Jimmy Thompson

Founder

A Los Angeles Native, Jimmy Thompson attended Cal Arts for animation and finished in 2004. After graduation, Jimmy targeted the work of Mike Mills and spent three years working with MIlls’ and Roman Coppola’s The Director’s Bureau. At this forward-thinking and taste-making company, Jimmy learned from all phases of commercial production, music video and new media creation. Upon leaving the Bureau, he freelanced for such studios as the illustrious, Superfad and Brand New School. It was here that he honed his chops for commercial illustration, animation and design while continuing to grow creatively. Jimmy’s process beings with ideas on paper. And from there his work grows through a strong collaborative spirit instilled by Cal Arts and The Director’s Bureau. Working with Harry provides the perfect compliment to this process. Jimmy continues to bridge art and commerce - in addition to his commercial work he has directed numerous music videos, was commissioned by Getty Images to create a short film, and exhibited drawings at the Brewery, Fur Gallery, and Ghettogloss. Jimmy teaches figure drawing part-time at Vision 21 Design College.

HARRY McGOWAN

Founder

Orignally from Nottingham, England Harry’s family emigrated to Los Angeles in 1995. Harry received a BFA from CalArts in 2005 with a focus in photography and graphic design and has attended Sci-Arc’s exclusive summer architecture program where he studied the practical applications of different materials in terms of art making.
In addition to working at the ground breaking digital agency Exopolis, Harry was drawn to MC Kunst gallery in Culver City because of its unconventional gallery format: they didn’t have a represented roster of artists, but instead produced major new works, each time with a different mid-career artist. Harry was hired as their Associate Director where he quickly pooled all of his creative talent and contacts to produce shows for the gallery. In addition to producing major installation works for Paul Pfeiffer, Ari Marcopoulos, Daniel Martinez, William Pope.L, Corey McCorkle and Chen Xiaoyun, he produced a two-story life-sized plexiglass NY fire escape that freely hung from the gallery ceiling for Kori Newkirk, a 16mm film for artist David Lamelas and numerous 35mm films for Turner prize winner Martin Creed.
